The Ultimate Pacific Northwest Marksman’s Archive: Vintage 1960’s Patched Shooting Jacket

This is not just a vintage garment; it is a meticulously documented piece of mid-century Pacific Northwest sporting and military history. Manufactured by the legendary 10-X or Large ("America's Finest Sport Clothing"), this heavy canvas shooting jacket belonged to a top-tier, elite competitive marksman known as "Rustad," who operated out of the Seattle area between 1959 and 1962.

Heavily adorned with vibrant, original, and incredibly rare period patches, this jacket tells the story of a highly versatile shooter who competed in both Highpower and Smallbore rifle events alongside the Sixth U.S. Army and the Fort Lawton Falcons.

The History & Patch Breakdown:

The Governor’s 20 (1962): The crown jewel of this jacket is the Washington State outline patch on the back. Earning a spot in the "Governor's 20" at the Wenatchee championship meant Rustad was officially ranked as one of the top 20 marksmen in the entire state.

Fort Lawton Affiliation: Features a massive Fort Lawton Falcons Highpower/Smallbore Rifle Team back patch and a Fort Lawton Rod and Gun Club front crest. Fort Lawton (now Seattle’s Discovery Park) was an active U.S. Army post, indicating Rustad was either stationed there or an elite civilian allowed to shoot on base.

Sixth U.S. Army Matches: Four consecutive years of Sixth Army Rifle & Pistol match patches (1959, 1960, 1961, and 1962), highlighting his consistent presence in highly competitive military circuits.

NRA Regional Championships: Includes NRA Smallbore (1960) and High Power (1961) Regional Championship patches, an Annual Member patch, and a rare NRA Building Fund patch.

State & Local Leadership: A Washington State Dept. of Game Certified Firearm Safety Instructor patch on the right chest, alongside a Puget Sound Rifle Mens Association shield on the front right pocket.
