Add a piece of rugged industrial history to your antique tool collection with this heavy-duty vintage breast drill. Designed for use before the era of power tools, this classic "eggbeater" style drill features a distinctive, slightly curved cast-iron breast plate. This ergonomic curve allowed the craftsman to lean their chest or shoulder into the drill, using their own body weight to apply heavy drilling pressure.
It features dual wooden handles, a heavy cast-iron frame, and a large hand-crank drive gear that still retains faded remnants of its original red factory paint (a common hallmark of classic tool makers). With its heavy iron patina, it makes a fantastic rustic wall display for a Kitsap Peninsula workshop, a cabin, or a great mechanical piece for steampunk artists.
Condition
Grade: Rustic / Decor / Parts Condition
Details: The metal has a heavy, dark patina with overall surface rust typical of a well-used barn or workshop find. The wooden handles are worn but fully intact, and the curved breast plate is structurally sound. Important Note: It appears to be missing the actual "chuck" assembly at the working end of the shaft (the part that tightens around the drill bit). Because of this, it is best suited as a decorative display piece, a restoration project, or for upcycled parts.
