This lovely midcentury Siam sterling brooch features Mekhala, the goddess of lightning. She is dancing in the air, against a black niello sky. The shield shape of the brooch is surrounded by finely worked openwork silver, in a design reminiscent of flames, waves, and foliage. Marked SIAM STERLING. Elongated c-clasp holds well when worn. Dates to the 1950s.
Measures 1-3/4 inches in diameter.
Excellent vintage condition. Normal patina of vintage silver has been left undisturbed.
