This is a vintage, hand-painted ceramic figurine that falls under the category of Black Americana (also sometimes referred to as Black Memorabilia). Likely dating to the mid-20th century (circa 1940s-1960s), this small, hollow-cast figure depicts a young boy with exaggerated features, dressed in a blue and white collared shirt, blue and white striped shorts, and large yellow shoes.
The piece has a high-gloss glaze finish. While unmarked by a specific manufacturer, there appears to be a very faint, possibly hand-etched marking on the unglazed base that reads "SHY". Details: The ceramic figure is fully intact with no major structural cracks or repairs. There is some minor paint/glaze wear and very tiny fleabites typical of age, particularly on the tip of the nose and the edges of the shoes. The base shows normal shelf wear.
