This lovely vintage jewelry box is typical of those frequently sent home as gifts by troops serving in Vietnam. The black lacquer top is handpainted with a scene featuring 2 people riding on a sampan-type boat, with bamboo, flowering trees, and thatch-roofed buildings all around them. Original hardware is intact. Inside, there are 3 compartments. The two back sections are covered by a lacquer lid that swings up. One corner of this hinged portion has been damaged. The lid is still present and could be kept as is, repaired, or discarded by the new owner.
Measures 6-1/2 × 10 inches and is 3-1/4 inch high.
Exterior in excellent vintage condition. Inside with damage as described.
