This beautiful porcelain soup bowl was made and handpainted in Japan between 1911 and 1921. A bright blue butterfly is approaching a pink blossom, against a softly shaded yellow background. Some of the glaze on the flowers and in the border around the rim is thickly applied, for a wonderfully textured effect. Marked MADE IN NIPPON.
